Charlotte SHOUT! Festival: A People's History Of Charlotte Exhibit Recap [Photos]

The People’s History of Charlotte exhibit was an overall powerful presentation to say the least. Projected onto the McColl Center for Art + Innovation's building, attendees witnessed text slides and animations that revealed a raw perspective of the oppressive history in Charlotte. On-lookers were left with intrigue that incited them to ask question such as,“how did Charlotte become the city that it is today?” This particular question provoked many side conversations as to whether the city's foundation derived from money accumulated through slave labor, or was it the deceptive colonizers who manipulated Native Americans. Like with many of their events, Charlotte SHOUT! did an excellent job by incorporating this profound exhibit that not only ignited people to ask critically sensitive questions, but progressively, it encourages them to continue to have these conversations throughout the community moving forward.
